IS OWL Wireless Electricity Monitor battery or mains powered? OWL Wireless Electricity Monitor operates from 3 x AA Batteries in the Transmitter and 3 x AA batteries in the display. The OWL display can be operated from a mains adaptor in place of batteries, which can be purchased sepearately from our shop. Do I need to purchase batteries when buying an OWL Wireless Electricity Monitor? No. OWL Wireless Electricity Monitor is supplied with 6xAA alkaline Batteries. I have a CM119 version of the OWL Wireless Electricity Monitor, how long do the batteries last? For the display standard alkaline batteries will last for 8-9 months, with high performance batteries lasting 12-13 months. For the transmitter standard alkaline batteries will last more than 12 months, with high performance cells lasting more than 24 months. Thinking of the environment I would like to use rechargeable batteries. Will they work in the OWL Wireless Electricity Monitor? Yes. OWL has its own range of rechargeable batteries and the AA batteries are suitable for use with OWL Wireless Electricity Monitors. OWL rechargeable alkaline batteries have a similar single use life in the OWL as standard alkaline batteries, but have the ability to be recharged. Other brands of standard rechargeable batteries do work but for a very short period (less than 4 weeks) as the standard alkaline batteries and tend to run down quickly. If my neighbour also has an OWL CM119, will they interfere with each other? They shouldn't, because when the Display and Transmitter connect for the first time it is made using an address randomly generated by the transmitter when first powered. The transmitter has >4000 addresses it can generate on each of the 3 different channels, and this address is used for all communications. The transmitter retains this address in memory even with a battery change and will only change this address if the "Reset button is pressed. If you think your monitor is suffering from interference from a neighbours monitor then it is suggested for one of you to press the Reset button on the Transmitter followed by the Reset button on the Display to generate a different address to use when communicating. If my neighbour has an OWL CM113, will it interfere with my OWL CM119? They shouldn't interfere, as the CM113 & CM119 use a slightly different wireless scheme and addressing.
