Thermacover is an insulating paint additive for house paint. It can be used for both interiors and exteriors.
It turns a painted surface, such as walls and ceilings in your home, into a thermal paint barrier
It can save you up to 20% on your heating bills
This inert additive was specially developed by NASA as part of the space programme. It contains hollow, microscopic ceramic spheres to which a unique process applies a special coating. These microspheres form a radiant heat barrier, converting ordinary house paint into a heat-reflecting thermal paint barrier.
During the winter, it greatly reduces heat loss from your home and prevents it from migrating through your walls and ceilings and escaping to the cold outside air.
MixingOne bottle of ThermaCover should be mixed with 5 litres of paint in a larger mixing container. A mixer paddle for insertion into an electric drill is useful but not essential.
Surface PreparationEnsure any loose material is removed from the walls and ceilings before starting.
ApplicationOnce mixed the paint can be applied to the walls and ceilings in the normal way by either brush, roller or spray gun (be sure to remove the filter from the spray gun or the additive will be filtered out). Paint pads should not be used.
Two coats are recommended for maximum thermal barrier.
StorageStored in a dry environment ThermaCover’s shelf life is over 5 years.
FinishThermaCover produces a slightly textured finish. For a high gloss or silky finish, apply two undercoats containing Thermacover before applying the final coat with no additive mixed in.
